What is happiness and/or a "good life" to you?
I define happiness as having love in your life and a purpose. I have both of these things. My family loves me unconditionally, and so does God, which I am becoming closer and closer to. The work that I do as a healthcare journalist is fulfilling, as I get to inform the public about one of the most important things in their life, if not the most important - healthcare. A "good life" to me also means having a pet to care for, and that cares about you. I have an adorable mini Goldendoodle puppy that I adore. Other things that could form part of the definition of a "good life" may include hobbies. Mine include playing the ukulele and the guitar, as well as running, and reading.
Socrates
This Socrates quote is referenced in the movie "The Emperor's Club." Living rightly is an idea that has been bantered for a really long time. Some argue that acquiring wealth, fame, and power is necessary to lead a happy life. In any case, others accept that genuine satisfaction and satisfaction come from carrying on with an existence of honesty, sympathy, and reason.
The well-known rationalist Aristotle once said, "Satisfaction is the importance and the reason for life, the entire point, and end of human life."
Making decisions that are in line with our beliefs and values is part of living right. It implies treating others with graciousness and regard while endeavoring to have a beneficial outcome in our general surroundings.
Moreover, living properly requires self-reflection and mindfulness to grasp both our assets and shortcomings. In the end, it's not just about being here, but also about making our time here worthwhile. We must always strive to live in a way that makes us and those around us happy and leaves a good legacy for future generations.
True happiness in life can only be achieved by leading a moral life. It entails making decisions that are in line with our core beliefs and striving to have a positive effect on the world around us. It's not just about being here, but also about making our time here meaningful by leaving a good legacy.
I found reflecting on a decision I made that resulted in a sanctioned action to be enlightening. It helped me see the error in my ways, and how I could have acted differently. It helped me see that I had other options, better ones, ethical ones, that would have prevented the sanctioned action. My thinking about this decision now is that I needed guidance on ethical decision-making, in addition to time management, among other areas, to have behaved ethically and like a person of character.
It has evolved after going through the topic areas that this website covers in that at first, I was more defensive. I had difficulty in accepting responsibility for my actions. Not anymore.
Looking back over the several years that have gone by since my decision, this decision has had a ripple effect that affected my life and the lives of two of my loved ones. We agonized over the sanctioned action, me especially. It had a profound impact on my mental health. It also heightened the need for me to behave ethically in any and all other situations, including in the workplace.
Moving forward, I will use what I have learned to behave like the person of character I want to emulate. I now have the tools I need to identify ethical dilemmas, and how to behave in the event of an ethical dilemma. I will incorporate what I have learned into my daily life and decision-making by referencing my notes when needed and remembering what I have been through. Furthermore, I will also stay focused on what it means to me to have a "good life" to keep my values in check.
I am who I am because I possess the essential qualities of integrity, morality, and character. As far as I might be concerned, being moral means making the best choice in any event, when nobody is watching. It entails adhering to the moral principles and values that direct my life's actions and choices.
In contrast, integrity entails being open and honest in all interactions with others. It entails fighting for what is right, despite the fact that doing so may be difficult or unpopular.
The set of characteristics that define who I am as a person is referred to as my character. Honesty, responsibility, respect, empathy, and fairness are all part of it. Character requires consistently upholding these values in all aspects of my life.
Ethical behavior, character, and honesty are important not only for my own development but also for establishing lasting connections with other people. I am able to earn the trust and respect of those around me through these characteristics, and I also make a positive contribution to society as a whole.
In conclusion, being honest, trustworthy, and of good character is essential if I want to live a happy life that is in line with my values and beliefs and has a positive impact on those around me.
